    Job Description

    Allergan Aesthetics Biological Research is seeking a highly motivated and innovative postdoctoral

    candidate who will conduct independent research on neurobiology of migraine. The successful

    candidate will be responsible for conducting research studies using electrophysiology methods aimed

    at investigating mechanisms underlying sensitization of nociceptive neurons in the context of migraine

    chronification. He/she will design and conduct patch-clamp electrophysiology in tissue slices and

    dissociated neuronal culture to test specific hypotheses regarding chronic sensitization. He/she will

    organize, analyze, and interpret results, communicate and present at team meetings and publish in

    high-profile journals. The candidate will be working in a regulated and controlled environment and

    must be willing to adhere to strict guidelines for working with Select Agent protein toxins.

    Responsibilities:

    · Drive patch-clamp electrophysiology experiments in primary neurons and tissue slices.

    · Establish and validate a rodent migraine model using behavioral assays.

    · Perform immunohistochemistry in cultured cells and tissues to evaluate neuronal activation.

    · Perform data analysis, write scientific reports, and provide presentations to multidisciplinary

    teams and to management.

    · Publish findings in scientific journal(s).

    · Demonstrate a high level of proficiency and expertise in his/her discipline.

    · Set and meet goals and experimental timelines.

    · Learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques.

    · Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate

    handling of materials, controlled drug, and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal

    care where applicable.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    · PhD in Neuroscience or similar scientific area of discipline.

    · Strong knowledge and experience with tissue slice electrophysiology. The ability to perform

    electrophysiology on brainstem slices is a must.

    · Experience with rodent migraine models is strongly preferred.

    · Experience with in vivo electrophysiology is a plus.

    · Experienced and demonstrated success as primary author of publications and presentations.

    · Accurate record keeping, training and adherence to lab safety standards/protocols is required.

    · Exceptional scientific writing, communication and presentation skills are required.

    · Computer skills: expert knowledge of MS-Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), graphing software

    (e.g., GraphPad prism, SigmaPlot) and strong understanding of statistical analyses is required
