    Operations Science and Technology Intern Overview

    Operations Science and Technology (S&T) is the intersection of technical excellence and business impact . We are champions of product innovation and process knowledge to solve AbbVie's most complex technical challenges to successfully commercialize our pipeline and maintain uninterrupted supply for our patients.

    During a summer in S&T, an intern would own a focused technical project to address manufacturing challenges, process improvements, and new technologies development . The intern would be placed in one of the following S&T groups: Analytical Sciences, Combination Products (CDAT), Parenteral and Eye Care, API, or Drug Product.

    Possible Intern assignments are:

    • Cell Culture Process Development and Improvement - Work in lab setting to support cell culture and purification process experiments .
    • Infusion Pump Reliability Testing - Progression from test and fixture concept, to experiment design, building fixtures and conducting testing of a Syringe Based Infusion system

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research and development activities
    • Apply theoretical framework to solving problems within scientific discipline in a timely manner
    • Develop and execute lab work, draw conclusions and deviations
    • Summarize and present results, providing conclusions and recommendations for p ath forward
    • Perform routine and complex tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results
    • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies and procedures
    • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials and GxP compliance, where applicable

    Internship Location: Lake County, IL

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical, Biomedical, Materials Science & Engineering, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering or other related field of study
    • Must be returning to university the semester following internship
    • Expected graduation date between December 202 4 - August 202 5

    Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

    • Previous research/lab experience and experience with wet lab, modeling, and data analysis software
    • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate concepts and problems in terms that are understandable to all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
