As a third-year summer camp, Camp Somerset for Girls presents a unique job opportunity for creative and spirited individuals who want to be part of building a summer camp culture and community from the ground up. We seek independent thinkers who are self-starters looking for more than just a summer job but an actual seat at the table.
We believe that summer camp should be the most special time of year for children and it is our responsibility to make sure that every young girl feels empowered, encouraged, and inspired to be her very best self.
Cabin counselors live with a particular bunk and age group and also spend part of their day at an activity area of expertise. Counselors are expected to be role models who must be fun-loving, creative, patient, and genuinely concerned for the welfare and development of the campers.
Counselors will work with 2-3 other counselors in their cabin and receive 5 days off during the summer.
All Somerset counselors must be at least 19 years old OR have completed one year of college or post-high school graduate work.
A friendly disposition, good attitude, and desire to work with children and help them grow their skills and self-confidence are a must!
At least one activity area (see website), willingness to be ridiculous, big smile
It's crazy fun! If you've never been to camp or been to Maine, then you don't know what you're missing. You will meet amazing people and develop the strongest of connections with both your campers and your fellow counselors. Camp is a special and intimate environment, free of technology and outside distractions. Our "bubble" is safe, positive, and uplifts everyone that enters. Plus, you've got your whole life ahead of you to sit in an office or behind a desk. Now is the time to be outside and enjoy your youth!
Camp Somerset is an all-girls residential camp located in the beautiful Belgrade Lakes region of Maine. Our goal is simple: to empower, encourage, and inspire.
