    Lease Accounting & Administration Technology Consulting Associate     Position Description 

    As a Technology Consulting Associate at RSM, you will work with mid-sized businesses in diverse industries and receive hands-on client experience.  Our TC Practice works with our clients’ executive leadership teams to achieve their business objectives through innovative solutions that align people, processes and technology.      We are looking for individuals that desire to leverage both accounting and technology skills to provide advisory, design and implementation services to our clients.  As a part of our automation solutions, RSM's Lease Accounting Technology Consulting Practice provides advisory and software implementation assistance to help companies successfully manage their lease portfolios and comply with newly developed accounting regulations.  As an Associate, you will be assigned to numerous projects per year, and you will work on several pieces of any particular assignment—not just one small part.  This role is a great opportunity to insert yourself into a growing team with high visibility to leadership.    Consultants provide quality professional services to RSM's clients by performing the duties and responsibilities listed below:   

    • Meet with clients and conduct consulting projects based on client needs 
    • Facilitate user workshops to gather and document business needs, requirements, weaknesses and challenges 
    • Prepare and support completion of key project deliverables 
    • Assist business users, project managers and IT leadership in optimizing the scope, benefits and risks of proposed projects 
    • Work closely with our Technical Accounting Consulting team on complex accounting matters 
    • Provide leadership in working with Lease Accounting & Administration solution vendors 
    • Become proficient in a minimum of two Lease Accounting & Administration solution vendors 
    • Support ongoing internal practice development of the RSM Lease Accounting Technology Practice 
    • Complete client projects effectively and efficiently and maintaining a high level of proficiency 
    • Perform work remotely or travel to client locations as required
  • Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:   

    • A B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university with Bachelor’s degree in the field of Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, and/or Management Information Systems 
    • Demonstrated capability to achieve strong academic results in selected field as well as a facility with / aptitude for technology 
    • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to apply theoretical concepts and best practices to solve business problems 
    • Highly self-motivated and directed character with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure 
    • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
    • Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented, collaborative environment 
    • Eligibility to work within the U.S. 
    • Travel to assigned client locations locally and nationally is required (Post COVID). Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations 
    • A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred

     

       

    Preferred Qualifications:   

    • Basic understanding of business processes and concepts in process redesign 
    • Basic understanding of technology, including infrastructure, databases and application / enterprise architecture 
    • Basic understanding of accounting.  Not required but preferred, a basic knowledge of the Lease Accounting Standards ASC 840, ASC 842, IFRS 16, and/or GASB 87 
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take guided action on it 
    • Ability to self-manage time and tasks assigned to you, as well as manage other key project component 
    • Strong data manipulation skills utilizing Excel, including database knowledge (Microsoft SQL  and / or Access knowledge is plus) 
    • Experience with software, such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheets, Visio, PowerPoint and Word
