  • Responsibilities

    HEALTHCARE CONSULTING ASSOCIATE

    Consultants provide technical and analytical support to help clients maximize their customer service, operating efficiency, and cash flow performance.  By taking a hands-on implementation approach, Consultants are assigned responsibility for the success of one or more functional areas within the client organization.  Consultants develop and implement effective solutions through process redesign, financial analysis, workflow design, tool proficiency, personnel motivation activities and extensive interviews and interactions with client personnel. 

    Major Functional Responsibilities:

    • Performs data collection and analysis, identifies issues and draws supportable conclusions
    • Develops understanding of RSM methodologies, tools and techniques and applies them on assigned projects -  Establishes credibility within the client organization to facilitate the change process
    • Handles routine client and project team interactions
    • Communicates problems, barriers and issues within the appropriate context and delivers recommendations to resolve issues
    • Conducts research for, and makes presentations to, clients and RSM project team
    • Writes with clarity, demonstrates knowledge of English language
    • Anticipates critical questions by client personnel and other RSM staff, prepares for discussion of relevant issues and problems
    • Develops tracking tools to measure project progress and to measure benefit provided to the client
    • Develops solid functional understanding of RSM tools in order to train other consultants and client personnel -  Other responsibilities and functions as required

    Major Technical Responsibilities (as required by role):

    • Uses RSM tools to conduct data analysis and perform basic reporting activities
    • Demonstrates a comprehension of system interfaces, table interactions, and database functionality
    • Performs data analysis to identify trends in client performance metrics

    Job Scope:

    Consultants use established procedures and methodologies when possible, but must be able to develop new procedures and methodologies when work situations require.  Work situations range from routine to complex, and may involve varying degrees of technical comprehension. The position requires the ability to analyze workflows and set priorities to ensure timely completion.  Consultants receive moderate to high levels of supervision during initial assignments, but are expected to work with increased independence over time.

    Interpersonal Contacts:

    Consultants work closely with client executives and operations professionals, including staff physicians and nurses, along with personnel in Admitting & Registration, Medical Records, Finance, Patient Accounting, Quality Assurance, Case Management, Information Technology department, and other areas throughout the hospital and integrated delivery network.  Contacts frequently contain confidential/sensitive information necessitating discretion at all times.  Interactions range from routine to complex and include presentations, and one-on-one or group discussions.  Oral and written communications skills are required.

    Specific Job Skills: 

    This position requires strong personal computer skills (Excel, Word, Windows, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office), analytical skills (problem solving, quantitative, work flow process, etc.), and the ability to demonstrate proficiency and comprehension of RSM tools.  Requires the use of independent judgment, discretion and decision-making abilities.  Must possess negotiation, presentation, selling, customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and persuade clients.  Requires ability to work in team environment, be creative and mentor and train others.  Advanced English language skills (reading, writing and comprehension).

    Education and/or Experience:

    Strong performance in achieving a Bachelor’s and/or Masters equivalent degree specializing in health care administration, management information systems, economics, industrial engineering, math, accounting or business.  Financial analysis experience and a focus in technology are desirable. 

    Job Conditions:

    Position requires travel 4 days/week.
