KPMG is currently seeking an Associate for our Tax Controvery & Dispute Resolution Services (TCDR) practice in Washington National Tax (WNT).
Responsibilities:
Assist with the provision of IRS audits and appeals representations, which includes responding to Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments and 30-day Letters
Draft penalty abatement request letters and assist in the execution of penalty abatement services in state and federal penalty cases
Assist in representing taxpayers using various Alternative Dispute Resolution processes
Assist with preparation of mutual agreement procedure and advance pricing agreement requests
Research and draft memoranda on a variety of substantive tax matters
Assist in the development of risk assessments and help implement appropriate tax procedures and with implementing risk management systems to help clients comply with the reportable transaction rules of the IRS and other rules that govern activity in clients' tax functions
Qualifications:
Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors in the past 12 months; a JD or LLM in Taxation from an accredited college/university
Must have a current/most recent GPA of 3.00 or above
Solid understanding of IRS operations,, its procedures and its processes
Demonstrated interest in advocacy work
Strong technical ability to meet our business objectives
Effective communication, leadership and time management skills
Ability to work as a team and strive for personal effectiveness and professionalism to maintain excellent client service
Tax professionals may have the opportunity to work virtually/remotely within the U.S. depending on business needs
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future
