    EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF BEING YOU!

    Looking for a unique learning experience alongside a diverse group of students from across the U.S, while getting a sneak peek into what a career in audit, tax, or consulting might look like at RSM? Join us to experience RSM through our RSM Excellence Academy. This program aims to raise awareness and strengthen the professional skills of outstanding students from Black, Latinx, and Hispanic heritage who are three years from final college graduation (first year of a four-year degree or second year summer of a five-year degree (such as a Master’s of Accountancy)). 

    The RSM Excellence Academy consists of a 3-day summer leadership conference with a stipend and the opportunity to participate in a 2024 summer internship with RSM. The Excellence Academy is open to all qualified students who are three years from graduation. There is a preference for students who have demonstrated a commitment to efforts of racial diversity and inclusiveness for underrepresented groups (particularly those that support communities of Black, Latinx, and Hispanic heritage) via participation, for example, in organizations with these goals or other similar initiatives.  The Excellence Academy is designed to recognize these efforts of inclusivity and to develop outstanding business, accounting, technology, and engineering students for internships and full-time employment. You will have an opportunity to build relationships that will assist you in your educational and career development. We hope that this experience will provide you with an overall understanding of our professional services industry, RSM’s culture, and the unique advantages of working in the middle market.

    PROGRAM COMPONENTS:

    • CAREER DISCOVERY AND DEVELOPMENT – Explore areas of career opportunity and development at RSM, and within professional services as a whole, through the following areas:

      • Talent Experience – Connect with your peers and our employees and firm leaders to develop both personally and professionally, while gaining individual perspectives about our organization and culture

      • Skill Development – Strengthen your technical and soft skills through collaborative real-world simulated exercises related to ethics and problem solving

      • Client Experience – Learn about our middle market clients through a variety of activities, client interactions and visualizations.

       

    • AN INVESTMENT IN YOUR FUTURE – After completion of the RSM Excellence Academy Conference:

      • You will receive an invitation to join RSM’s Excellence Academy internship program the following summer.  Satisfactory completion of the conference is a prerequisite to be eligible to receive your internship offer.

      -  You will receive a monetary stipend.

    PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

    •        Applicants should be three years from graduation and full-time employment eligibility

    •        Pursuing, or interested in, a degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, technology, engineering, or related field

    •        Strong preference for membership in organizations committed to racial diversity and inclusiveness such as NABA, Black Student Union, National Panhellenic Council, ALPFA, or LBSA, or participation in other groups or initiatives with similar goals

    •        Applicant should be a team player who is motivated to work in a fast-paced environment 

    •        Show a desire to be client focused and learn how to provide skilled advisory services

    •        Possess strong communication skills

    By applying for the RSM Excellence Academy, you are also applying for an RSM Excellence Academy Internship for the following summer. If you receive an offer to join RSM’s Excellence Academy program and accept the 2nd year internship offer, responsibilities during the internship will include:

    • Assist assigned member(s) of leadership with ongoing projects and deliverables

    • Leverage knowledge of assigned practice to support leadership in execution of strategic or tactical  imperatives

    • Start to develop an understanding of solution offerings and relationships with supporting leadership

    • Liaise with internal organizations (human resources, finance, marketing, sales) to develop, implement, and  maintain efficient and effective support processes in support of leadership directives

    • Be a resource to assigned teams, fielding questions, liaising with team members to share best practices, and promoting efficiency and standardization 

    • In conjunction with assigned member(s) of leadership, support the definition of project scope and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements

    • Support member(s) of leadership to manage project objectives, schedule, resources, and deliverables 

    • Create and update project plans

    • In conjunction with assigned member(s) of leadership, develop leadership meeting objectives and agendas, document meeting outcomes, and follow up on related action items 

    • Work with member(s) of leadership to coordinate risk mitigation, process improvement, communication, and support needs affecting the successful delivery of client solutions

    • Other duties as assigned
