Journalism Intern in Washington, DC (Summer & Fall 2017)
Hey y'all - have you heard of The Beat DC?
It’s the Beltway’s only inclusive political tip sheet that highlights people of color through the lens of policy and politics.
Launched in July 2016, the platform has grown exponentially and organically, reaching thousands of influencers from the halls of Congress to the Oval Office and thought leaders in between.
While the platform highlights people of color, our readership casts a wide net of everyone who has an interest in the timely intersection of constituencies and federal politics.
Now, we’re looking for a couple of talented, self-starting interns to join our team. Engaging in content generation and editing, brand-raising and event scoping, this is an opportunity for emerging journalism professionals looking for real-world experience in what it takes to produce a high-quality, well-sourced daily tip sheet, and to get it in front of the right sets of eyes.
So what would you be doing as an intern for The Beat? Specific responsibilities include:
We offer a values-driven, positive work environment, with an opportunity to learn from, and develop relationships with, a team of media leaders. We’re pretty flexible in terms of your preferred schedule - we’re close to a 24-hour operation. For the right candidates, onsite and remote work will be just fine.
Internships are part-time, unpaid opportunities.
We’re looking for highly motivated, dedicated students who’ll be able to get the most out of their internship experience.
Preference will be given to candidates in at least their junior year of college, and who are eligible to receive college credit or school-provided stipend to participate in this internship.
