**What You'll Do: **With a passion for retail in general, and hardware retailing in specific, you consider a trip to the hardware store as one of life's underrated pleasures. Reporting to the Editor in Chief, HBSDealer, you will cover the home-improvement product and hardware-retailing industry for the Hardware & Building Supply Dealer brand. Working in close collaboration with other members of the HBSDealer team, your key responsibility will be news and feature writing, including posting, packaging and presenting content in various engaging formats. With a goal of maximizing the wealth of content onsite for optimal user benefit, you’ll also integrate multimedia content into the online site and newsletters.

Specifically you will:

• Create, produce and manage high-quality content in a fast-paced environment
• Assist editors and managing editor to integrate multimedia content to the site where appropriate
• Leverage leading social media platforms to drive brand awareness and engagement
• Proofread and edit material as needed.
• Build relationships with industry sources, keeping abreast of new trends in home improvement
• Collaborate with team members to achieve business goals
• Generate story ideas and fully participate in staff meetings
• Attend digital and physical events as needed and occasionally work evenings/weekends based on breaking news, special reports or live event coverage
• Regularly monitor and track content performance
• Track and analyze website traffic and key drivers of engagement
• Adhere to copyright and privacy standards and company policies
• Take on special research projects, as directed by Editor in Chief

Job requirements

What You'll Bring:

• Knowledge and skills developed through a minimum of 3 years relevant reporting experience (preferably B2B or news websites)
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or relevant combination of education and experience.
• Excellent writing, reporting and story sourcing skills and working experience with both short term and long term editorial projects
• Strong editing skills; consistently produce accurate and careful reporting
• Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills, with ability to work under both daily and monthly deadlines
• Ability to maintain quality and consistency across media types and web platforms and drive increased traffic and brand visibility.
• Knowledge of content management systems such as Drupal an asset
• Attention to detail, creative thinking and problem-solving
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to cultivate and maintain industry contacts
• Ability to travel for frequent store visits, conferences and trade shows
