DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY
PURPOSE
Work with employees of the Rock Falls, IL location related to personnel related topics, hiring and on-boarding, resolutions, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Operations supervisory responsibilities and shift coverage as needed for absences and as needed due to freight volume
- Lead RKF recruiting including review of applications, scheduling interviews, performing interviews, and recommending hires for approval by Terminal Manager
- Manage Balancetrak for all Rock Falls positions and manage entire paper and electronic recruiting process including all required forms
- Request requisition openings and closings along with advertising needs to Recruiting & Retention Specialist with continuous/timely updates
- Onboarding/New Hire welcome responsibilities including tours, introductions, coordinating attendance at orientation, meeting supervisors, etc.
- Manage probation evaluation program assuring all evaluations are completed by supervisors and submitted by deadline to Human Resources
- Manage yearly PTO bidding process
- Oversee Kronos, assuring supervisors and support staff have all forms and entries completed by Friday of each week; assuring completion and submission of all documents to finance by weekly deadline
- Follow-up meetings with new employees to assure we are providing all resources needed. Perform a 4 month (post-probation) follow up meeting with every new employee. Manage system to assure meetings are held
- Manage the uniform ordering program and follow-up with employees to assure they have received everything and understand the uniform policy
- Attend job fairs for RKF focused hiring needs. Back up/support Corp Retention & Recruiting Specialist for other job fairs if needed
- Potential travel as back-up/support of Retention & Recruiting Specialist for high priority terminals if needed
- Build and Track metrics and provide reports to HR, Terminal Manager and others
- Work with HR, Terminal Manager and others on building retention programs focused on RKF
- Other duties as needed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Record of success in recruiting including using Applicant Tracking Systems and HR Information Systems
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Must be competent and proficient in Microsoft Office Software products including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Extensive knowledge of office and driver recruiting strategies
- Ability to maintain exceptional degree of discretion regarding confidential information
- Ability to work independently using good judgement and function as part of a team
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of internal and external customers
- Ability to view problems as challenges to be positively addressed and solved
- Human Resources experience preferred
- Detail-oriented, analytical thinker, and problem-solver
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and react to change productively
- Ability to navigate multiple computer systems
- Ability to work on tasks independently or in a team environment
- Excellent attendance
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Primarily sedentary work, which involves sitting most of the time
- May be occasionally required to exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- The general office environment is favorable; Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are minimal hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc;
- Visual Acuity including regular use of items including a computer screen or monitor
- Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers
- Talking and hearing required to communicate with and listen to others to share or receive information; May be occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others
