    Job Description

    Primary Areas of Work

    Abode Communities Individual Giving Officer works as a member of the Fund Development team to support the individual giving and annual gift strategies of Abode Communities.

    The Individual Giving Officer is responsible for raising major gifts (ranging from $2,500 - $10,000 plus) with multi-year commitments for Abode Communities Beyond Homes Giving Society.

    Primary responsibilities are a combination of individual giving/donor stewardship, annual giving, event planning and fund development office support.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement in concert with the Vice President Fund Development (VPFD) the strategy to achieve individual giving fund-raising goals including stretch goals.
    • Participates in overall planning and execution of Abode Communities individual and major gift fundraising.
    • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for the purpose of supporting the Beyond Homes resident services program.
    • Maintain an Individual Giving portfolio and regularly solicit gifts.
    • Strategically manage donor relationships and frequently meet with individual donors.
    • Prioritize donor engagement and maintain Abode Communities donor development practices through emails, handwritten thank you notes, phone calls, donor meetings, etc.
    • Lead and grow Abode Communities Young Professionals Group (ACYPG) with the goal of recruiting 5 new members a year.
    • Plan and execute the Beyond Homes Scholarship Awards event and assist with the planning and execution of other fund development related events.
    • Prepares research on each prospect to include wealth engine rating, giving history to Abode Communities and other organizations, capacity, Abode Communities linkages including if they are a volunteer, etc.
    • Based on research, recommends solicitation strategy, and prepares background information for each visit and generates timely and thorough follow-up correspondence and call reports.
    • Manages a comprehensive cultivation tracking system for all donors and prospects – both in the donor database and hardcopy.
    • Identify ways to increase the cultivation and involvement of donors in visits, meetings, and activities as appropriate.
    • Support Abode Communities Annual Board Campaign and Beyond Homes Giving Society membership drive.
    • With the Marketing and Communications team, implement the annual Giving Tuesday Campaign and end of year e-communications.

    Fund Development Office Support

    • Manage donor records, enter notes and actions from Vice President of Fund Development (VPFD), prepare reports and analyze data.

    • Support the VPFD as it relates to fundraising activities, donor cultivation, donor stewardship and donor solicitation.

    • Support the VPFD in managing the Fund Development Committee.

    • Support the VPFD in the planning and execution of annual fundraising events, including the annual Beyond Home Breakfast.

    • Support special projects and specific campaign efforts, as needed.

    • Additional staff support, as needed, to benefit Abode Communities and expand its’ mission.

    Qualifications/Knowledge/Education

    • The candidate or employee must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications or related field and five (5) years of related experience to be eligible for the this position.
    • History of gift solicitation.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Experience with a Cloud-based platform, i.e. SharePoint or OneDrive.
    • Prior experience with The Raiser's Edge preferred.
    • Professional demeanor and team player.
    • Highly motivated and willing to support organizational needs beyond primary responsibilities.

    Additional Information

    Compensation

    The Individual Giving Officer is a full-time, exempt position, salary commensurate with experience. The salary range is $70-80K.
