Safety Specialist The Safety Specialist assists with inspections, accident investigations, training, safety meetings, and the overall implementation of Bigges safety program at construction job sites. The Safety Specialist is responsible for compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs and reports pertaining to safety required by the Company, contractor, client, Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations. Responsibilities: Performs hazard assessments and provides recommendations to eliminate or reduce hazards. Manage all aspects of safety and health on a construction project sites. Inspects and evaluates project sites, including equipment and processes in working areas, to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations, and Company policies and procedures. Plan, control and coordinate all work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages. Work directly with the Director of Safety to develop and implement an effective site-specific safety plan. Implements all drug testing procedures for pre-hire, reasonable cause, random and post incident. Ensure the proper reporting, investigation, and corrective action for vehicle accidents, personal injury accidents, property damage, near-miss incidents, and general public incidents involving Bigge operations. Complete safety and compliance reports in a timely fashion. Develop, supervise, and coordinate training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness. Provide safety training, or schedule training by others, and provide updates of the training requirements as they change. Monitor monthly safety meetings and training conducted at jobsite locations. Compile reports addressing the efforts and effectiveness of the local meetings to corporate, regional and local management. Qualifications A degree in Safety, Engineering, related technical field or other Bachelor degree plus equivalent construction experience preferred. At least two years of construction safety experience is preferred. Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, or similar safety accreditation is preferred. Must possess the personality, enthusiasm and commitment to Bigge core values that promote cooperation and respect. Computer savvy cable of using Microsoft Office Suite, Industry Safe, and other computer software. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Highly motivated self-starter, who can effectively prioritize, multi-task and manage to accomplish objectives within prescribed deadlines. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Outstanding communication skills including written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation. Ability to travel to various job sites daily. Must be able to work outdoors in a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace. Ability to be on call 24/7 for emergencies. Must possess a valid drivers license.
