    Subrogation Investigator Chattanooga, TN/en-US/External/job/Chattanooga-TN/Subrogation-Investigator_R-16459-1/applyThis position is accountable for investigating, researching, evaluating, and development of new case files involving claims payments subject to recovery under BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessees contractual subrogation and right of recovery provisions. Job Description: Job Duties & Responsibilities * Obtain case information from various external sources such as questionnaires, accident reports, has direct contact with subscribers, witnesses, family members, claims adjusters, providers, and attorneys. * Analyze case information to determine whether there is a third party tort liability and whether, based on contract provision and the law of subrogation, a right of subrogation or a right of reimbursement exists. * Identify and record all members that may have been injured by the third party. * Conduct research to identify the potential source of recovery using all methods of investigation available. * Place all parties on notice by written letter. * Record potential lien amount in case file by researching paid claims to be included in the accident investigation. * Responsible for managing a case load where the lien amount is equal to or lesser value than $10,000.00. * Negotiate and settle cases within the parameters of this role; otherwise forward the case on to the next highest level. * Be present for external or telephone mediations and trials when necessary. Job Qualifications Education * High School diploma or equivalent work experience required * Associates degree from an accredited college preferred Experience (required) * 2 years of healthcare experience in customer service, claims processing, or other related roles and responsibilities required * Skilled in Word, Excel, and customer service Skills/Certifications * Must be able to work independently and proactively. * Organizational skills and attention to detail are vital to this role. * Ability to communicate effectively, at a high level of skill, both orally and in writing. * Understand the relevant aspects of automobile and casualty insurance claims. * Understand medical terminology relating to case evaluations and settlement. * Possess a working knowledge of the BCBST claims processing systems.
