We are seekingmotivated, personable college students or graduating seniors with an interestin real estate, hospitality, and sales for 8-12 week summer internships in eachof our core markets (NY, DC, Boston, San Francisco, Southern California, andSeattle). Equity Residential Interns will have the opportunity to learn aboutthe exciting and fast-paced residential property management industry from theground up with an emphasis on sales and customer service. As an Intern, youwill work closely with our top property management teams to learn theday-to-day operations of leasing and property management and provideexceptional service to residents. Each day will be unique, requiring an abilityto prioritize, multitask, think creatively, take initiative, and employ adiverse set of skills. You will experience many facets of our business throughjob shadowing and an on-the-job training rotation which includes learning thesales process, customer service and resident relations, pricing, financialperformance, and facilities maintenance. In addition, Interns will have theopportunity to shadow Regional Managers, meet corporate team members, assistwith regional or community-specific projects, and more. Our goal is that youwill leave the program with a strong sense of how a successful real estatemanagement business operates, and with a desire to join the Equity Residentialteam after graduation. WHO YOU ARE * **A Strong Communicator. **Your writing and speaking skills areclear and effective, helping you connect well with others. * **A Team Player. **You are united with teammates indelivering the best experience to current and prospective residents. * **Organized. **You are flexible and able to juggleappointments and personal interactions with teammates and residentssmoothly. * **Creative. **You are an idea person and like coming upwith smart solutions to new challenges. * **Caring. **You put yourself in others shoes andstrive for positive outcomes. * **Motivated. **You invest extra energy to reach yourgoals. * **Solution-Oriented. **You follow through on commitments,letting residents know that they matter. ** ** WHAT YOULL DO * **Learn from the best **by shadowing Leasing Consultants,Assistant Community Managers, Community Managers, and other associates asapplicable at your assigned community/communities. * Demonstrate a genuine interest in real estate by learning the sellingfeatures and advantages of an Equity Residential community and shopping yourcompetition in your local market. * Develop the skill set for a LeasingConsultant role with the intentof preparing to begin your career with Equity in that capacity aftergraduation. * **Connect with prospective residents **through phone calls, appointments, andfollow-up communications. * Show off our communities by walking the properties withprospective residents and delivering a persuasive sales pitch about thebenefits of living in an Equity Residential apartment home. * Manage the leasing process by guiding new residents through eachstep, completing and verifying all lease applications and sharing results withapplicants. * Keep accurate records of prospective and current residents, aswell as rent and inventory. * Handle transactions like accepting rent and deposits andinspecting move-ins and move-outs. * Collaborate with talented teammates to identify and solve any apartmentissues that arise. * Broaden your understanding of ourbusiness by shadowingyour Regional Manager and other corporate team members as time allows. * Collaborate with other Interns to create a presentation summarizingyour experience. REQUIREMENTS This is a paid 8-12 week internship withthe following qualifications: * Currently attending a college oruniversity in a Bachelors or Masters degree program preferably in aHospitality, Real Estate, Business, orMarketing discipline. * Interested in a career in the realestate/property management business. * Strong communication, organizational, andmultitasking skills with a sharp attention to detail and professional presence. * Demonstratedproficiency in working with computers including word processing, calendarmanagement, software/database, and social media. * Excellent communication, interpersonal,and organizational skills. * Available to work a flexible schedule,including weekends. ** ** PREFERREDEXPERIENCE * Prior experience inleasing, sales, or hospitality a plus. * Current juniorsor above preferred; graduating seniors welcome. **Primary Location: ** **Work Locations: **CA-Vista 99 (29243) 99 Vista Montana San Jose, 95134 **Organization: **Equity Residential **Schedule: **Full-time **Job Type: **Internship
