Equestrian Specialist-Camp Misty MountainJob Locations US-GA-ArmucheeCategory CampType Full-time Regular (FTR)Status Exempt# of Openings 1Education Bachelor's DegreeTravel 10% Job Summary The Equestrian Specialist will provide year- round equestrian program for user groups, and provide Girl Scout program support and resources to volunteers, girls, and parents, while maintaining quality customer service Duties & Responsibilities Plan, develop, design curriculum and direct equestrian program.Recruit, hire, train, and supervise weekend and seasonal equestrian staff and volunteers.Plan and conduct mid-week and weekend horseback riding opportunities for Girl Scout groups.Manage the herd of horses at the assigned facility including identifying horses to lease, own and retire based on their usability in the program.Coordinate the complete care and feeding of horses owned or leased by the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta.Market assigned program to internal and external publics.Support the development of volunteers and staff by providing training opportunities.Formulate, submit, and administer assigned budget.Support the councils mission statement, goals, and objectives.Uphold the standards of program set forth by Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Camping Association and the Certified Horsemanship Association.Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Skills & Experience Experience in riding instruction, barn management, training horses and staff supervision.Ability to walk long distances on rough terrain for long periods of time and able to carry, lift and/or transfer up to 50 pounds.CHA Level 2 English and Western Instructor, or equivalent.Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both orally and in writing.Live on site in Council provided housing (optional) PREFERRED SKILLSWorking knowledge of computer software, word processing, and database operations.Knowledge of Girl Scout organization MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS College education desirable.Must hold riding instructor certification or have at least 3 years of documented riding instructor experience (with children) including references.Must be at least 21 years of age.Must hold a valid drivers license.Willingness to work hours outside of business hours and weekends.*Must successfully complete a criminal, motor vehicle and credit background check.
