Job Description

Planet Technology has partnered with a Cincinnati company to locate a COBOL developer with experience in PL/1 for a full-time position in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is a great company, culture and project! PL1 experience is a must.

DUTIES:

• The Cobol Specialist will write product requirement documents, implement and track programming and development timelines, and negotiate feature sets with the development leads.
• Develop; maintain; and evaluate current state-of-the-art computer hardware and programming tools.
• Evaluate their ability to support specific requirements and interface with other equipment and systems, develop risk analysis and mitigation scenarios, and recommend system improvements.
• The developer may be responsible for design/development of segments of an integrated system or the entire system.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• • At least Five (8) years of total technical experience in COBOL mainframe programming technologies including CICS
    • z/OS or MVS mainframe environment
    • PL/1 Experience
    • IDEAL
    • JCL
    • DB2 database system
    • Experience in working in small development teams
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Good problem solving and analytical skills are required.
    • Strong design and documentation skills are required.
    • Strong verbal communication skills are required.
    • Advanced experience writing computer programs for various purposes is preferred
