The Economic Research & Analysis department is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and reporting data on NYCEDCs initiatives and investments, and on New York Citys economy as a whole. This work includes monitoring and evaluating NYCEDC initiatives, responding to data requests from a range of stakeholders, and publishing reports on economic trends. The department also analyzes the economic and fiscal impact of major influences on the Citys economy to complement the work of other NYCEDC departments, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, and the Mayors Office. This internship is a part-time role open to students and recent graduates of graduate or undergraduate programs in economics, statistics, public policy, or other related fields. Your Internship: The intern will support NYCEDCs Economic Research and Analysis department, which provides data and research on NYCEDC initiatives, and on industrial, social, and economic trends in New York City. The role entails researching and preparing data for the departments publications, organizing and maintaining economic databases, and processing these data for research requests. This role is ideal employment for people with long-term academic/research pursuits. Responsibilities: * Conduct research and organize, update, and analyze economic data for requests from other NYCEDC departments and in support of the departments ongoing research * Support department staff in researching, preparing data, and drafting publications, including blog posts, industry reports, and monthly economic snapshots * Contact data sources to resolve questions and inconsistencies, or to find missing data * Support department staff on the implementation of evaluation programs, drafting research instruments like surveys, collecting and analyzing data on program outputs and outcomes. Qualifications: * Be a current student pursuing a degree (graduate preferred) in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or other related fields, or a recent graduate of such a program. * Strong quantitative skills, including ability to work with statistical software such as R, STATA or SPSS * Ability to work with Microsoft Excel * Ability to write and communicate effectively about economic research and data * Ability and interest to work with large and varied data sets * Strict attention to detail and quality management * Interest in doing economic and demographic research under supervision of economic development professionals About NYCEDC: The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is a non-profit organization that reports to the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development.
