A leading commercial property management organization with properties across the country is looking for a Construction Accountant. This is a newly created position due to company growth. CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Month-end close primarily related to construction activities for an assigned portfolio of properties
- Review and approve invoices for designated portfolio
- Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts & prepare variance analyses
- Maintenance of fixed asset database for respective properties
- Review construction related billings for coding and accuracy and ensure they have proper supporting documents
- Record, monitor and reconcile construction activities
- Resolve questions arising from unusual variances in job cost activity or construction account expenses
- Monthly journal entries with supporting documentation
- Assist external auditors
- Special projects
CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTANT REQUIREMENTS:
- BS Accounting or equivalent
- 3-4 years of progressive General Ledger experience
- Real estate industry experience required
- Construction industry experience or exposure a plus
- Experience preparing financial statements (accrual based)
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail and an ability to multi-task
