    The Team

    When your mission is to entertain the world, you must not only contend with content and technological challenges, but also a variety of public policy and regulatory issues. To meet the latter needs, Netflix's Global Affairs team conducts government relations, policy development, advocacy and lobbying across the globe. Through the Global Affairs team's efforts, Netflix is able to develop strategies to enter new markets and continue to innovate by successfully navigating sensitive regulatory landscapes and complex situations. Through their work, the Global Affairs team creates the environment Netflix needs to continue producing exciting content and world-class innovations that thrill audiences worldwide.

    The Opportunity

    Netflix is seeking a Senior Manager to support its work on U.S. federal policy within the U.S. & Canada ("UCAN") Global Affairs team. The role reports to the Director of U.S. Public Policy, and is based in Washington, D.C., with travel as needed to Netflix offices in Los Angeles, New York, and other locations.

    The UCAN Global Affairs team advocates for a legislative and regulatory environment conducive to Netflix's growth in the U.S. and Canada and serves as a strategic partner to internal business groups as they navigate the policy world. As part of this team, the successful candidate will be immersed in the unique content for which Netflix is known and support U.S. policy advocacy on all matters related to content creation, production, and delivery. The Senior Manager will help advance business and policy objectives in Washington, provide thought leadership on critical issues, collaborate with industry and civil society partners, and serve as a resource to internal stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Partner with the Director of U.S. Public Policy to develop strategy, advocacy plans, memoranda, talking points, and presentations on policy priorities.
    • Monitor congressional hearings, markups, and other legislative developments on a wide range of issues impacting the business.
    • Conduct legislative research and analysis.
    • Collaborate with internal teams as well as external consultants, trade associations, and other stakeholders to develop strategy and proactively advocate for Netflix's interests on a variety of policy issues.
    • Advise internal teams on key policy developments and their impact on the business.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, staff, and third parties.
    • Attend company events, trade association meetings, congressional briefings, and industry receptions.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, including roles such as a legislative aide in the U.S. Congress, federal agency, consultancy, law firm, and/or civil society.
    • Experience working on technology, media, and telecom policy and knowledge of these industry sectors.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating successfully with multiple teams.
    • Excellent judgment, research skills, and attention to detail.

    Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $325,000.00 - $515,000.00.
