    Job Description:

    The Senior Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting the Vice President of Corporate Risk in all aspects of risk management, risk financing, and insurance. This position requires a motivated self-starter who is interested in working across all areas of the business through the lens of corporate risk. The Senior Risk Analyst will collaborate with various departments at Ventas, including Construction, Investments, and Accounting, to assist in real estate deals, ground-up construction developments, actuarial analyses, and more. We are seeking someone with a dynamic personality, a team-oriented mindset, and a desire to grow and develop under the direct guidance of the VP of Corporate Risk and other risk professionals.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deals - Acquisitions, Divestitures, Transitions, Construction Projects: Actively participate in the due diligence process for all deals, including mergers, acquisitions, and ground-up developments. The Senior Risk Analyst will compile insurance information for the deal team and assist in ensuring that Ventas properties are appropriately insured. The Senior Risk Analyst will serve as the Corporate Risk representative on deal calls with senior leadership.
    • Premium Allocations and Forecasting: Manage complex methodologies designed to allocate the costs of risk transfer to Ventas-owned properties. Prepare allocations after major policy renewals in coordination with the outside broker, Ventas VP of Corporate Risk, and Ventas SVP/Chief Tax Officer. Coordinate insurer premium audits and work with the Ventas Risk team on invoicing for premiums. Manage data related to property valuations to ensure the accuracy of premiums and forecasting.
    • Climate Change Analysis and Impact: Collaborate with the Ventas Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team to assess the impact of climate change on the existing Ventas portfolio and acquisitions.
    • Ad Hoc Projects Assigned by the Vice President of Corporate Risk: Examples of projects include researching and analyzing risk identification in acquisitions, cost of risk analysis, and assisting in the preparation of databases and presentations.
    • Insurance Renewals: Work with appropriate staff across the organization to obtain data on actual and projected payroll by classification, by state and/or country, revenues, number of vehicles, employee headcount, property values, business interruption values (including acquired and sold properties), and loss reports. Submit this information to insurance brokers and insurers.
    • Claim Trends and Benchmarking: Review property and casualty loss data to identify trends. Identify benchmarking and claim trends, and advise senior leadership accordingly.
    • Risk Management Information System "Origami": Proficiently use the Risk Management Information System to access data and run various reports frequently, providing these to internal and external contacts, including the VP of Corporate Risk, Corporate FP&A, insurance brokers, outside consultants, and insurers. Data must be analyzed regularly to ensure credibility and accuracy.
    • Contract Management: Assist the Risk team with managing risk transfer contract terms and developing processes for handling contracts. The Risk team reviews all contract language related to insurance, indemnification, and other risk management terms. In addition to assisting the team, the Senior Risk Analyst will have the opportunity to suggest improvements and streamline contract management processes.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in insurance, risk management, or a related field required.
    • 3+ years of experience in corporate risk management, insurance broking, insurance underwriting, financial analysis, accounting, or a related field.
    • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with a systems-oriented approach to problem-solving.
