    Job Description

    As a Senior SQL Developer and member of our Technology team, this individual is responsible for the research and planning, development, implementation, utilization, monitoring, and administration of databases, primarily Microsoft SQL Server. They are also responsible for the security, integrity, efficiency, scheduling, and documentation of the databases. They will establish and enforce written guidelines, rules, and standards.

    Responsibilities:

     

    · Utilize Microsoft SSMS, SQL Reporting Services or equivalent tool set to analyze stored procedures and troubleshoot issues.

    · Collaborate with company departments, clients, vendors, and account management to fix operational system issues including reports using Microsoft SSMS.

    · Communicate with client business and technology representatives concerning data format and transfer requirements.

    · Understand claims data and transform data from disparate sources for use withing the organization

    · Assist DBA in conducting day to day and long-term monitoring of system health as it relates to database usage and performance.

    · Assist DBA in researching database performance issues and come up with solutions to address those concerns.

    · Respond to requests for data from internal users in a timely fashion.

    · Develop complex SQL queries in SSRS to produce reporting across multiple business segments

    · Mentor Associate level Database Developers\Integration Specialist

    · Solve issues with ETL processes and SQL queries and assist in system testing new and existing ETL processes

    · Review ETL processes for accuracy, maintainability, and performance prior to implementation

    · Provide solutions for data migration and transformation

    · Collaborate with DBA with respect to performance, backup strategies, security and standard methodologies

    · Write system documentation and procedures.

    · Work with team to define and communicate change control process.

    · Work with team to develop change control and database object migration processes.

    · Work with DBA to implement security standards that adhere to audit practices.

    · Work with DBA to audit user access to SQL Server databases based on best-practice security methodologies.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Required Education and/or Experience:

    · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.

    · Seven or more (7+) years’ experience utilizing Microsoft SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, SQL Reporting Services or equivalent tool set for importing and transforming data using T-SQL scripting.

    · Experience with logical and physical database design (for both transactional and data warehouse) and data normalization concepts

    · Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant work experience

    · Must be strong with SQL Integration Services (SSIS), Transact-SQL, SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Management Studio (SSMS) to be considered

    · Practical experience with the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of SQL Server

    · Practical experience with data migration and data replication tools, technologies, and strategies

    · Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices

    · Knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical database design

    · Experience with OLAP and OLTP

    · Experience in security concepts as they relate to SQL Server.

     

     

    Skills and Knowledge:

    · Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, fast learner, hardworking and good team player.

    · Expert in writing T-SQL, including complex stored procedures, functions, views and triggers.

    · Good knowledge of configuration management concepts, release management, change management concepts, industry standards and best practices

    · Able to create effective Backup and Recovery plans by Transactional Log and Full Database Backups.

    · Knowledgeable of high availability and disaster recovery solutions with SQL Server Failover Clustering, Database Snapshot, Log shipping and Database Mirroring.

    · Knowledgeable with Data Warehouse concepts and implementation to provide reporting solutions for the organization.

    · Knowledgeable in creation of SSIS packages for transferring data from various data sources like Oracle, MS Access, MS Excel and Text files.

    · Strong ability to use Excel to create Power Query and Power Pivot tables and accessing multidimensional cubes.
