    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Property Accountant will be responsible for the production and accuracy of the financial reports to internal and external customers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to preparation of the monthly financials, maintenance of detail of all balance sheet accounts, reviewing of P&L for reasonableness, general ledger accountability, reconciliations and other special projects as assigned. The position will report to the Assistant Controller.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

    • Prepare monthly property financial statements including, but not limited to the monthly financial packets (B/S, CF and P/L), maintains supporting account reconciliation of monthly and annual audit work papers on the balance sheet.
    • Complete financial reporting requirements to various outside agencies as needed on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis.
    • Monitor costs as compared to budget, alerting management when needed and providing a recommendation for changes.
    • Independently address accounting questions, concerns, or provides research using fundamental accounting principle and practices when communicating financial packages.
    • Ensure GAAP and accounting best practices are maintained throughout the production of financial reporting
    • Maintain fixed asset schedules.
    • Independently identify and communicate to appropriate personnel variances in financial data.
    • Identify process improvements and provides recommendations to the team.
    • Maintain adequate internal controls over company procedure to ensure adherence to management policies.
    • Monitor cash balances and makes disbursement decisions for properties to Accounts Payable for payment.
    • Perform regular general ledger and period closing responsibilities including, but not limited to: journal entries, month-end work papers, accrual entries, special allocations, etc.
    • Maintain cash management to include monitoring and maintenance of required reserves and escrows
    • Assist outside Accountants at year-end to include preparing tax returns, audits, supporting schedules, and any other necessary data.
    • Assist in documentation of procedures.
    • Perform monthly bank statement reconciliations.
    • Assist with special projects, financial reports and spreadsheets as requested.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum three years experience with producing monthly financial statements.
    • CMA or CPA a plus.
    • Prior property accounting industry experience a plus.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP principles required.
    • Extensive spreadsheet and accounting software skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work well with others.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
    • Ability to efficiently handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Ability to maintain confidential information.

    PAY RANGE

    $50,000-54,000 annually
