Grace Covenant is a Gospel-centered church committed to proclaiming Christ, preparing disciples, and promoting community. Our student ministries are a critical part of our work as we encourage and disciple the next generation of leaders in the church and the world. We believe that ministry to the whole family is the best context for disciplining children and youth.

We currently seek a passionate, energetic and relational youth minister to develop and lead a ministry centering around Outreach, Evangelism, and Discipleship.

Grace Covenant Church Student Ministries :

    Mission Statement:

Led by the Holy Spirit and in partnership with families, the student ministry of Grace Covenant Church exists to engage all of the youth under its care, to teach them and train alongside them to live in Christ, and to send them out as Godly women and men of integrity who join in Christ’s transforming work in their homes, schools, churches, workplaces and worlds.

    Ministry Goals:

    • Teach our students by laying a theological foundation through the scriptures

    • Partner with parents in mentoring their students by providing resources and opportunities for familial spiritual involvement

    • Exercise spiritual community together regularly

    • Equip our students for ministry inside and outside of the church

    Ministry Values:

We are committed to a Christ Centered community marked by compassion, brokenness, grace, worship, mission, and play:

    • Compassion: we seek to be present with and for one another in times of great joy and in times of great pain.

    • Brokenness: we “accept the anxiety of feeling ourselves in suspense and incomplete,” and offer our authentic selves to God and each other, confident that God does not despise a broken spirit.

    • Grace: we are all undeserving recipients of God’s love and acceptance, and we strive to offer one another the same extravagant forgiveness and belonging God extends to us in Jesus Christ.

    • Worship: the Holy Spirit gathers us together to experience the Word of God written, proclaimed, and revealed in Jesus Christ through intergenerational community that loves, glorifies and enjoys God together.

    • Mission: we are invited to join in Christ’s continuing ministry of reconciliation in the world.

    • Play: we recognize laughter, fun, and joy as markers of a healthy faith community.

    Overview:

The director of ministries to children, youth, and families is charged with providing godly leadership in developing, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating a comprehensive program of education, discipleship, Christian nurture, spiritual development, effective outreach, and fun activities for the students influenced by Grace Covenant Church. Strong relational skills are essential to this position so that the pastor develops lasting relationships both with the students and families within our congregation and the unchurched students within our community. A strong working knowledge of the Bible and a giftedness to teach it clearly is a must.

Candidates should display good organizational skills, the ability to manage a program, and a desire to be connected to the entire congregation, not just the youth community. A clear and passionate call to youth service and two years of youth ministry experience is preferred.

    Duties:

    • Evaluate and recommend to the elders the curricula best suited to accomplish our goals for student ministries.
    • Recruit, train, and encourage teachers and leaders for the student ministry.
    • Plan, direct, and participate in the programs of the student ministry (Sunday morning programs, Sunday night youth groups, home groups, etc.) as well as special events for the students and their families.
    • Communicate and implement matters of policy, procedure, and scheduling to all involved in the Youth Ministry.
    • Keep families informed of the church’s Youth Ministry goals, activities, and programs.
    • Develop positive relationships with the students and their families.
    • Visit school campuses on a regular rotation, building relationships with youth and their friends, visiting prospects for ministry and reaching out to inactive young people from within the church.
    • Help and counsel individuals who are seeking solutions to personal and spiritual needs while recognizing the importance of referring to others specifically trained for this work as needed.
    • Guide youth to participate in the greater worship life of church in addition to stimulating a lifestyle of discipleship among them.
    • Coordinate the youth calendar with the overall church calendar.
    • Generate new ministry programs and activities to meet needs and interests of the youth while consistently evaluating the effectiveness of our current ministries.
    • Work within the current budget provided by the elders. Contribute input into the planning of future budgets. Lead and organize fund raisers for student ministry programs as needed and approved by the elders.
    • Support the worship and work of the church to the best of your abilities.
    • Participate enthusiastically in receiving coaching and mentoring from the pastor and elders.
    • Attend, participate in, and assist with the regular ministries of the church (e.g., Sunday morning worship) and special events (e.g., Christmas Eve Service)."
  • Qualifications

    Spiritual and Personal Qualifications:

All positions of leadership in the church require a dynamic and living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, a commitment to the Word of God, agreement with the beliefs of our local church, and a maturing and godly personal life. The youth ministries director must exhibit a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life. Leaders are held to higher standards of accountability – this is even more true with the youth of the church than with any other group. The candidate should consider carefully the requirements of First and Second Timothy as a Biblical handbook for ministry leaders.

    Professional Qualifications:

    • Possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field, experience in youth ministry, and good administrative and organizational skills.

    • Be gifted and called to youth ministry, enjoy working with youth and their families, and have a passion for evangelism and outreach.

    • Teach in an engaging manner.

    • Have a comprehensive knowledge of the Bible and Biblical theology, and agree with both the historic creeds and confessions of the evangelical church and the statement of faith of Grace Covenant Church.

    • Be a self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with students, parents, and staff.

    • Be committed to continuous personal, spiritual, and professional development."
