Compensation: $90K–$120K Base + Commission

About the Role:
A nationally recognized, 100% employee-owned architecture and design firm is seeking a Business Development Director to lead its marketing and sales efforts. This individual will shape the firm’s brand presence, drive strategic growth initiatives, and cultivate meaningful client relationships across architecture, interiors, and planning projects.
This role isn’t just about getting leads—it’s about building community, elevating design, and owning the strategy that drives firmwide success.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Business Strategy: Develop and execute firm-wide marketing and business development initiatives aligned with company goals.
Grow the Brand: Shape SHM’s voice and presence across digital, print, events, and client-facing materials.
Win Work: Identify, pursue, and secure new business through research, networking, and high-touch relationship-building.
Collaborate Firmwide: Partner with principals and design teams to create compelling proposals, presentations, and client experiences.
Market Intelligence: Track competitor activities, industry trends, and performance metrics to inform growth strategies.
Manage the Team: Oversee and grow the Sales & Marketing department, ensuring team alignment and results.
What You Bring:
Bachelor's in marketing, business, architecture, or a related field; MBA preferred
Proven success in business development or marketing within an architecture, interior design, or creative industry
Deep understanding of architectural services and how to sell them
Excellent verbal, written, and visual presentation skills
Familiarity with CRMs, digital marketing platforms, and social media tools
Strategic mindset with hands-on follow-through
Strong interpersonal skills, team leadership experience, and accountability
