Commissioning Agent | Chicago, IL / Milwaukee, WI / California | Mid-Level (2–5 Years)
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Commissioning Agent with 2–5 years of experience to join a multidisciplinary engineering team. This role requires a hands-on professional to verify the performance and functionality of building systems—primarily HVAC and electrical—through all phases of the commissioning process. The position is site-focused, requiring travel within the Midwest and California as needed.
CXA certification is strongly preferred. Candidates with a background in testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) or those close to obtaining certification are also encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
Evaluate design and construction documents to ensure systems are commissionable.
Develop and execute commissioning plans in coordination with project stakeholders.
Conduct field inspections and performance testing of building systems.
Document all findings, procedures, and resolutions in formal reports.
Manage punch lists, track issues, and verify resolution of deficiencies.
Provide operations and maintenance training to facility staff.
Oversee adherence to project specifications, schedules, and budgets.
Communicate progress and technical issues with clients and internal teams.
Ensure all systems meet regulatory and safety standards.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field preferred.
2–5 years of commissioning or relevant field experience.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
CXA certification preferred; candidates nearing certification also considered.
TAB certification or experience a plus.
Willingness to travel as required (Midwest and California).
Proficiency in fieldwork, issue tracking, and system documentation.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
