This Electrical Engineer role is designed for a PE-level professional who can independently lead and manage electrical system design across multiple projects, with a strong emphasis on the education market. This position blends technical leadership, project management, client interaction, mentorship, and business development participation. Position Overview
You will oversee electrical design production, ensure compliance with codes and standards, supervise junior staff, and interface directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires deep technical knowledge, advanced documentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple active projects with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Documentation
Perform detailed engineering calculations.
Produce electrical drawings in AutoCAD and Revit independently.
Write, edit, and finalize project specifications without supervision.
Review and approve shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, addendums, and construction documents related to electrical systems.
Field Work & Compliance
Conduct fieldwork and prepare field reports to verify design conditions.
Maintain expert-level knowledge of building codes, firm standards, and client requirements.
Systems Expertise
Design and manage systems including:
Lighting and lighting controls
Fire alarm systems
Power distribution (including emergency power)
Technology systems
Team Leadership
Supervise and mentor interns, designers, and EITs.
Seal final contract documents as required.
Client Engagement & Business Development
Participate in client meetings, events, and industry functions (golf tournaments, receptions, galas).
Leverage technical expertise and soft skills toward BD opportunities.
Maintain strong awareness of the firm’s mission, vision, and client objectives.
Continuous Learning & Adaptability
Stay informed on new methodologies, technologies, and industry advancements.
Adapt quickly to evolving project needs.
Required Qualifications
EIT/PE license required.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and applicable engineering software.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and building codes.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capability.
Working knowledge of business fundamentals (accounting, marketing, HR).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience delivering projects in the education market.
Experience sealing and managing full contract document packages.
Prior involvement in client-facing business development initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $117,000–$194,000, depending on experience and role responsibilities.
