Role Snapshot
This is a mid-to-senior electrical engineering role focused on building systems design across commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. You will develop construction-ready documentation, coordinate across disciplines, support client interaction, and mentor junior staff.
You’ll be hands-on with production—while also stepping into leadership responsibilities across key parts of the project lifecycle (scope, coordination, deliverables, deadlines, and quality control).

RTM is hiring an Electrical Engineer III to support building systems design and project delivery. This role blends:

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership Support & Coordination
Manage project timelines, deliverables, and communication between internal design teams and clients
Coordinate with internal disciplines (mechanical/plumbing, structural, civil, etc.) and external partners to ensure complete design integration
Provide project consultation related to schedules, deadlines, site surveys, punch lists, building codes, and engineering standards
Electrical Design & Documentation
Produce electrical design deliverables aligned with project scope, specifications, and budgeted hours
Develop complete electrical construction documents suitable for permitting, including:
power plans
lighting plans
panel schedules and circuiting
one-lines and risers (when applicable)
details and equipment coordination
Prepare accurate engineering specifications and design documentation within project parameters
Research and evaluate engineering solutions consistent with project requirements and constructability expectations
QA/QC and Technical Accuracy
Execute QA/QC procedures consistently and accurately
Coordinate drawing quality and accuracy across disciplines and trades
Maintain drafting/engineering standards and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement
Client-Facing Communication & Professional Documentation
Represent the engineering team in client meetings throughout design and construction
Maintain professional project documentation (meeting notes, coordination items, client responses, etc.)
Assist with proposal preparation and engineering agreements
Mentorship & Team Support
Support onboarding, mentoring, and oversight of junior engineers and designers
Provide guidance on:
drafting standards
coordination workflows
engineering documentation expectations
professional project execution habits
Billing & Project Administration
Ensure timely billing submission for assigned projects
Follow established standards, procedures, and work practices
Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives to streamline delivery and reduce waste/cost

To be considered, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
5+ years of professional electrical engineering experience (building systems preferred)
Strong knowledge of:
building codes
engineering standards
construction processes and workflows
Ability to interpret and produce construction drawings
Proficiency with:
AutoCAD
Revit
Strong communication and documentation skills
Strong understanding of drafting standards and trade coordination across disciplines
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Valued)
EIT certification strongly preferred
PE license (or PE track) a major plus
Experience in client-facing coordination roles
Ability to lead portions of design delivery with limited oversight
Compensation
Estimated starting salary range: $85,000 – $115,000 (DOE)
