Job Title: Mechanical HVAC Engineer – Power Plant Design

Salary Range: $80,000 – $125,000/year

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical HVAC Engineer with a strong background in power plant design to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing HVAC and ventilation systems specifically for industrial and power generation facilities, including combined-cycle, thermal, and renewable energy plants.
We are looking for practical experience, deep technical understanding, and the ability to work across disciplines in a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop HVAC and ventilation systems for control rooms, electrical buildings, turbine halls, fuel handling areas, and other power plant environments.
Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IMC, etc.) and project-specific performance requirements.
Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, duct and piping layout, and airflow distribution.
Select HVAC equipment (AHUs, chillers, exhaust fans, filtration systems, etc.) and prepare technical specifications and datasheets.
Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural engineering teams to integrate HVAC systems into plant-wide design.
Develop construction documents, including drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Support site assessments, construction activities, submittal reviews, and field QA/QC as needed.
Contribute to value engineering, cost estimating, and schedule planning related to HVAC scope.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
multiple years of experience designing HVAC systems, including projects within power generation or industrial facilities.
Proficient in HVAC design tools (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP) and CAD platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
Strong knowledge of applicable mechanical and safety codes for power/industrial environments.
Ability to develop full HVAC design packages with minimal oversight.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with power plant ventilation requirements (e.g., battery rooms, MCC rooms, turbine enclosures).
Experience with fire/smoke protection strategies and pressurization systems in industrial settings.
