Job Title: Fire Smoke Damper Supervisor

About the Role
A leading provider of Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) and Whole Building Commissioning services in the Pacific Northwest is seeking a skilled Fire Smoke Damper (FSD) Supervisor to join their team in Beaverton, OR.
This leadership role oversees the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire and smoke dampers to ensure full compliance with life safety codes and operational standards. You’ll manage service teams, develop project schedules, provide technical guidance, and ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
This is an employee-owned organization, and this position includes participation in their Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise technicians performing FSD inspections, testing, and maintenance
Train and mentor team members to ensure safe and effective practices
Assign tasks, manage workloads, and monitor service timelines
Develop and manage service schedules to meet project deadlines and scope
Coordinate with clients and internal teams for seamless execution
Oversee documentation accuracy in line with NFPA 80/105 and regulatory requirements
Troubleshoot complex damper or fire life safety issues and provide hands-on support
Engage with legislative/regulatory entities to support service capabilities in various regions
Develop technician certification and training programs for target markets
Perform quality checks and ensure compliance with all applicable standards and codes
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout service delivery
Generate reports including test results, deficiencies, and recommendations
Promote and enforce safety protocols on all job sites
Monitor equipment, tools, and inventory; ensure everything is calibrated and in working order
Track team performance metrics and report on operational efficiency
Provide regular updates to management on project outcomes and team productivity
Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in a technical discipline preferred
5+ years of experience in FSD inspection, HVAC, or related fire life safety systems
2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
Familiarity with NFPA standards (NFPA 80, NFPA 105); certification preferred
Strong skills in interpreting blueprints, reports, and technical documents
Experience in technical writing related to mechanical or safety systems
Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital reporting tools
OSHA Safety Certification
Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
