    Role Overview

The Job Captain is a key member of our architectural project team—bridging design intent with technical execution. You will support Project Managers and Project Directors in coordinating production efforts, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring drawing sets meet both internal standards and client expectations. This role combines technical proficiency, leadership, and problem-solving in a fast-paced, design-forward environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Planning & Scheduling

    • Review project scope thoroughly to create efficient, well-structured work plans that minimize rework and maximize output.

    • Collaborate with designers, consultants, and clients to gather required project information.

    • Pre-plan drawing packages, schedules, and details—allocating time and personnel strategically.

    • Develop and track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure smooth execution from concept to completion.

    Production & Technical Documentation

    • Produce and oversee the creation of detailed construction documents with precision, speed, and technical accuracy.

    • Utilize advanced CAD and Revit capabilities to create drawing sets that align with firm standards.

    • Monitor project hours versus allocated time and communicate progress or risks to the Project Manager.

    • Draft addenda and bulletins, and maintain organized documentation throughout all project phases.

    Coordination & Communication

    • Act as a liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless project coordination.

    • Participate in meetings, site visits, and field observations to address technical issues and support project success.

    • Review and process shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals to maintain quality control and timeline adherence.

    Quality Assurance

    • Conduct thorough checks on your work and that of team members to ensure alignment with firm standards and industry best practices.

    • Review drawings and specifications across disciplines to ensure completeness and accuracy.

    • Support continuous improvement through proactive feedback and technical mentorship.

    Qualifications & Skills

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field.

    • 5–10+ years of professional architectural experience, preferably in commercial or mixed-use project delivery.

    • Strong knowledge of construction documentation standards and building codes.

    Technical Proficiency

    • Advanced skills in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other architectural design tools.

    • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and permitting processes is a plus.

    Professional Competencies

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, consultants, and colleagues.

    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities—able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

    • Leadership skills that encourage initiative, collaboration, and growth within the project team.

    • Self-motivated with a passion for architecture, innovation, and continuous learning.
