Principal Architect – Retail

Position Overview:
A leading architecture and engineering firm is seeking a seasoned Principal Architect to lead its retail design practice in Orlando. This role is responsible for establishing strategic direction, driving business growth, and ensuring design excellence across a portfolio of high-impact projects. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a strong track record in retail architecture, business development, and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the strategic vision, quality assurance, and overall performance of the Orlando office.
Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
Partner with business development and technical leaders to grow market presence and expand project reach.
Direct day-to-day operations, including staffing, resource planning, financial oversight, marketing, and project execution.
Ensure compliance with policies, contracts, project budgets, and quality control standards.
Mentor and develop internal talent to support a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Collaborate with local and national experts to deliver innovative and efficient project solutions.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in architecture with a focus on retail projects and team leadership.
Architectural licensure preferred.
Demonstrated success in client acquisition, retention, and project delivery.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
Comprehensive understanding of design processes, construction administration, and quality management.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Primarily office-based with occasional travel for client meetings or project oversight.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and manage time-sensitive tasks.
May require occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
