Professional Land Surveyor

Position Overview
We are representing a multidisciplinary engineering firm seeking a highly experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead Surveying & Mapping operations across Southern California. This role holds responsible charge for departmental leadership, technical oversight, and client-facing business development. Project scope ranges from small-site development to large-scale tract and master-planned community work.
Key Responsibilities
Department Leadership & Management
Lead and manage the Surveying & Mapping Department in responsible charge.
Provide mentoring, development, QA/QC oversight, and operational leadership.
Technical Surveying & Project Execution
Direct boundary, topographic, construction staking, and mapping workflows.
Review and ensure accuracy of surveying calculations, analyses, and deliverables.
Oversee certification packages, plats, maps, ALTA/ACSM surveys, and related documents.
Client & Business Development
Maintain and grow client relationships across Southern California.
Support proposals, scope development, and strategic market expansion.
Required Qualifications
Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
10+ years of land surveying experience (boundary, topographic, construction) in Southern California.
5+ years of leadership or management experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Expert knowledge of the California Subdivision Map Act.
Proficiency with modern surveying technology (GPS, total stations, scanning, etc.).
Strong leadership and mentoring capability.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in complex boundary retracement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for multidisciplinary coordination and client presentations.
