About the Role
A multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a seasoned Electrical Relay Engineer with expertise in power plant and substation systems. This role involves technical leadership across multiple electrical engineering projects with a focus on protective relays, equipment sizing, and power system analysis.
What You’ll Do
Design and specify electrical systems for power plants, substations, and T&D projects
Perform arc flash, load flow, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies
Program SEL relays and coordinate protection schemes for high/medium voltage and 480V systems
Size electrical equipment and layout clearances to meet code and safety standards
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and OSHA standards
Oversee projects from conception through execution, maintaining safety and cost-efficiency
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
What You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state (required)
10–20 years of experience in substation and power plant electrical design
Proven experience with protective relays, SEL relay programming, and grounding design
Proficiency in industry codes, standards, and electrical system analysis
Willingness to travel 5–10% for project needs
