Senior Engineer
Location: Primarily Remote (Based in Irvine, CA – occasional office visits required)
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with strong leadership and design experience to support critical infrastructure projects across Southern California. This role focuses on the planning and execution of public works projects involving potable water, recycled water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. The ideal candidate brings technical excellence, proven project management skills, and a passion for delivering high-impact solutions for local communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage engineering projects from concept through construction, including site development, grading, drainage, roadways, and utility systems
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to engineering and design teams throughout all project phases
Conduct site investigations and develop engineering solutions based on field conditions and data analysis
Prepare detailed designs, technical specifications, construction plans, and cost estimates using industry-standard tools
Ensure project deliverables meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements at the local, state, and federal levels
Coordinate with clients, contractors, subconsultants, manufacturers, and public agencies for smooth project execution
Support proposal development, feasibility studies, and project scheduling
Monitor project progress, proactively address risks, and maintain project timelines and budgets
Contribute to QA/QC processes and peer reviews to ensure high-quality outcomes
Stay current with industry advancements and apply best practices to continually improve design and project performance
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in California required
Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in civil infrastructure projects
Expertise in water/wastewater design and stormwater systems
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design and analysis software
Strong understanding of engineering codes, regulations, and standards (including Greenbook and local agency requirements)
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including client interaction and team collaboration
Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading design teams
Familiarity with Southern California agencies and permitting processes preferred
Knowledge of sustainable design principles or LEED certification is a plus
