Position Overview

Are you a licensed Structural Engineer ready to leave your mark on Florida’s evolving transportation landscape? We are seeking a Structures Engineer, PE to join our premier Transportation Structures team in Orlando. This is a high-visibility role designed for a technical expert who thrives in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment and is eager to tackle complex bridge and infrastructure projects across the state.

Core Responsibilities

• Advanced Structural Design: Perform rigorous analysis and design for reinforced concrete, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete, and steel plate/box girder bridges.

• Infrastructure Engineering: Develop engineering calculations and technical specifications for retaining walls, box culverts, sound barriers, and complex sign/signal structures.

• Technical Standards Authority: Apply AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and FDOT Structures Manual standards to ensure absolute compliance and safety.

• Digital Design & Modeling: Produce high-fidelity structural plans and 3D models using MicroStation, GEOPAK, and OpenBridge Modeler.

• Construction Stewardship: Provide vital construction-phase support, including RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and field-related design adjustments.

• Project Investigation: Conduct feasibility studies and alternative analysis evaluations to develop cost-effective, constructible design solutions.

• Mentorship & Culture: Actively mentor junior engineers and EITs, fostering a team-oriented environment focused on knowledge-sharing and professional growth.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) License (Required).

• Experience: 4+ years of bridge and structural design experience, specifically within transportation infrastructure.

• Software Proficiency: Strong experience with structural analysis tools and plans production (MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar).

• Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of bridge detailing, structural calculations, and AASHTO/FDOT design standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Education: Master’s Degree (MSCE / MSE) in Structural Engineering.

• Licensure Focus: Florida PE or SE License (or the immediate ability to obtain via comity).

• Software Mastery: Advanced capabilities in OpenBridge Modeler, FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, or LARSA.

• Sector Expertise: Proven success delivering FDOT bridge projects and experience with post-tensioning systems or temporary works design.
