ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT DESIGNER

Target is currently engaged in updating the exterior and interior design for our existing store chain while also opening 35-40 small format stores per year. Looking for project designers that can independently create exterior and interior design concepts in support of business strategies. Responsible for interpreting program and scope needs into the design of site, exteriors and interiors of new stores, small flex formats, remodels and innovation initiatives. Provides design aesthetic throughout the design process on assigned projects.

As an Architectural Project Designer, you will use your skills, experience and talents to:

• Develop innovative design solutions that define the physical experience, brand image, and business strategy solutions for Target. Research benchmarks, competition and market trends to develop trend-right architecture design strategies.
• Synthesize and interpret trend and market research information into design concepts that reflect the Target brand
• Create innovative concept designs that address business strategy
• Create and present design concepts through visually compelling and clear presentations
• Create designs that consider efficient construction methods and budget requirements
• Rapidly develop and iterate design concepts that integrate leadership and/or peer feedback
• Execute design process in alignment to timing and action calendars
• Collaborate to identify, troubleshoot and resolve DD,CD and CA issues
• Identify and propose ideas for process improvement or design strategy

REQUIREMENTS:

• Professional accredited degree (BArch, MArch)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (retail, or other building types)
• Hand sketching and proficiency in some or all relevant computer design applications (Sketchup, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, AutoCAD, Revit,other)
• General understanding of design, detailing and construction process
• Demonstrates high design aesthetic level and ability to innovate
• Visual communication skills
• Ability to work with others, or independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to positively influence others or build consensus
• Excellent problem solving skills
