    PLANT SUPERINTENDENT

     

    SUMMARY:

    Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate team coaches/specialists.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
    2. Plan and direct production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
    3. Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
    4. Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine caused of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
    5. Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
    6. Revise production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
    7. Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
    8. Conduct meeting to resolve grievances or refer unresolved grievances to next step.
    9. Assure adherence to the collective bargaining agreement.
    10. Compile, store, and retrieve production data.
    11. Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
    12. Responsible for housekeeping of the plant floor.
    13. Actively participate in self-directed work team model.
    14. Participate in plant recycling programs.
    15. Follow ISO14001 and IATF 16949 procedures/processes.
    16. Perform other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Manage subordinate Team Coaches/Specialists who supervise production employees.
    2. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
    3. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws.
    4. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS); three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Problem solving skills                                                              Decision making skills

    Communication skills, both written and oral                               Ability to manage multiple priorities

    Previous related supervisory experience
