The Merchandiser (Allocation Analyst) is responsible for ensuring that merchandise is allocated to stores at the appropriate levels in the necessary time frame. Collaborates with cross functional partners to develop and execute an allocation strategy that supports delivery of the team financial goals. Reports to Manager, Allocation. No direct reports. Must possess the ability to: -Allocate a specific product category and maintain alignment to the assortment plan and store capacity. -Analyze business performance at store/item level to determine allocation to stores, based on capacity and aligned with the assortment plan. -Develop and manage reporting to support the allocation strategy. Responsible for providing monthly in store inventory projections and recommending receipt shifts to ensure stores are kept in stock. -Ability to create ad-hoc reporting and analysis and to clearly communicate opportunity and risk at the style/color level, or by store and region. -Participate in weekly cross-functional meetings, pre-season planning, hindsight, and Monthly Merchandise Plan Review meetings. -Visit stores quarterly in order to identify assortment opportunities. Qualifications: -Minimum of 2-4 years experience in retail allocation using the JDA Arthur allocation system is preferred -Strong analytical skills, proficiency in retail math, and the ability to communicate effectively with peers, cross-functional partners, and executive level associates -Strong organization skills, self-motivated and the ability to solve problems independently -Ability to make judgment decisions -Excel knowledge and skills are required -Ability to partner with a team to achieve a common goal -Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to a changing retail environment -BA or BS required, in a business related field, preferred DSW believes that all persons are entitled to equal employment opportunities.
