Email Me Similar Jobs Email Me This Job Role and Responsibilities The HR Assistant at DownEast plays a key role in human resources, requiring the individual to provide support to the department in multiple facets. Essential Functions Assist the HR Director in the following functional areas: recruitment & job postings, pre-employment screening, onboarding, HRIS, employee & labor relations, benefits coordination, occupational health, safety & security, and employment. The position assumes responsibility for effectively recording, maintaining, and reporting human resource information in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures. Responsible for supporting HR initiatives and assisting employees with HR related matters. Maintain professional working relations while interfacing with applicants, visitors, vendors and HR liaisons, callers, and other business professionals. Staying well informed regarding human resource developments. Facilitate pre-employment screening and assisting with recruiting efforts, interviewing, and new hire orientation. Assist with the training of new employees and all other ongoing training; implementing and communicating company policies and hr initiatives and programs as needed. Monitoring worker's compensation claims and complying with OSHA reporting & recording requirements. Performs various HR administrative tasks and general office support functions and assists area personnel as necessary, and any other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Office work, sitting at desk on computer for long periods of time. Filing: bending and lifting file boxes. Qualifications and Education Requirements At a minimum, High School graduate or equivalent College degree preferred. Additional related training/certification also a plus One to three years of related HR experience Basic understanding of human resource functions Ability to use discretion with a high level of confidential information Detail oriented and highly organized is HUGE Excellent interpersonal skills and public relations abilities Basic office skills required, including copying, faxing, and filing Proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Office, ESPECIALLY Excel!
