    Job Description

    Emser Tile seeks an Outside Sales Representative to develop and drive the Builder business segment within the Branch’s territory while driving service excellence.

    This role will manage an existing portfolio of builders along with the expectation of finding new growth opportunities within them. The Builder Outside Sales Representative will serve as the main point of contact for clients, lead new business initiatives and maintain existing account relationships. The individual will work closely with multiple other departments across the organization to ensure relevant builder account information is communicated.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers
    • Identifies and establishes relationships with new and existing clientele
    • Collaborates with the Branch Manager, Regional Sales Manager, National Account Managers and peers to develop a Strategic Sales plan to build market share with a focus on key builders
    • Builds and promotes strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs
    • Provides industry-leading service to customers by processing orders and credits promptly
    • Sets up and maintains client displays and merchandising samples
    • Works independently yet cooperatively with the company and team's goals and directives
    • Develops an effective and productive working relationship with Inside Sales associates, Counter Sales Associates, Warehouse Associates and support personnel
    • Responds to the marketplace by providing value through being a knowledgeable rep with quick follow up
    • Develops in-depth knowledge and expertise with regard to all Emser products
    • Stays abreast of competing markets and provide reports on market movement and penetration
    • Works with Product Development & Marketing teams to consistently communicate business and design trends, consumer and trade attitudes, competitive practices, and product performance characteristics
    • Attends and participate in trade and industry events to increase client knowledge of Emser Tile in the Builder community
    • Keeps up-to-date on the marketplace and competitive activity

    • Be flexible, highly organized and have a successful history of servicing multiple accounts while consistently achieving and exceeding sales goals
    • Be able to work independently while simultaneously implementing company defined sales strategies
    • Be an expert in influential / collaborative sales and negotiation techniques, including analytical skills that can identify and exploit key opportunities
    • Enjoy prospecting for new accounts, setting up / maintain displays and introducing our quality products to the marketplace
    • Instinctively address all customer questions and concerns promptly with business savvy solution / resolution strategies

    QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/EXPERIENCE) 

    • Successful track record in an outsides sales environment (preferably within the flooring or building materials industry)
    • Expertise and experience selling to Builder community is a plus
    • Solid analytical skills in identifying client needs and aligning them to product offerings
    • Demonstrated expertise in the principles of collaborative sales technique
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and maintain positive relationships with all Emser clients, customers and influencers (internal and external)
    • Ability to analyze market conditions and competition and develop strategic responses to opportunities
    • Listening skills, communication skills, energy, enthusiasm and endurance
    • Must be flexible to maximize business opportunities as they arise
    • Must be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
    • College B.A. / B.S. degree preferred
