Job Description
The Apprentice Technician Program enables our hood techs, pit techs, and other general service personnel, with a mechanical aptitude and a passion for automotive service, to develop into a Mechanical Service Technician. Once accepted into the Program, the Apprentice Technician will work side by side with a Certified Mechanical Service Technician, or MST. The Service Manager/Consultant (SMC) and/or Mechanical Service Technician shall oversee any work completed by the Apprentice Technician to ensure our service standards are maintained. The SMC and MST coaching and teaching enables the Apprentice Technician to develop their skills. The program enables a person to achieve the status of professional Automotive Mechanical Service Technician; however, it does not include all of the necessary areas of automotive service knowledge and skill.
APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN PROGRAM INCLUDE (BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO):
- After assessing a candidate's desire to move into the mechanical division, the Store Manager and Service Manager/Consultant recommends individual to Store Group Leader (VP/DO).
- The Apprentice must understand and agree to continuous professional development throughout their mechanical service career
- Apprentice Technician signs program plan and commits to Tool Kit Purchase
- An in store Mentor will be assigned and is copied on the training plan and the hands on requirements at the store. Mentor will send reports to corporate sponsor on Apprentice progress on a quarterly basis.
- Quarterly HQ meetings with VP of Training and Compliance and/or SVP of Operations and their corporate sponsor are required. The Apprentice’s progress is reviewed and adjustments are made as necessary for training schedules, program time adjustments, and/or for additional development, identified by the mentor, corporate sponsor, etc
- When plan is created and signed and the tool kit is delivered, the employee is promoted to “Apprentice Service Technician.”
- Must maintain a very clean and organized work area, tool box, and roll around tool cart(s), while assisting others in maintaining a very clean and organized mechanical service center
- Must demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s vision, mission, and core values in all interaction with customers, co-workers, managers, and suppliers
- Must adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
