Our Accounting Department within The TJX Companies, Inc. prepares and leads the reporting, trend, and ad hoc analysis to all areas of our business. Corporate Accounting at TJX is offering entry level opportunities at our Framingham, MA office to students seeking to learn, grow and contribute in a fast-paced, dynamic organization. Summer 2019 entry level opportunities are available as a Financial Accountant within a variety of areas within the TJX Corporate Accounting organization. Accounting is often referred to as the language of business, ensuring accurate financial transactions are recorded and reported in compliance with U.S. GAAP. This business function offers the chance to bring your analytical side and impact the “heart” of the retail business. This role offers a great opportunity to build foundation in analytics as well as put your understanding of accounting fundamentals to real-life application. You will work on a variety of projects that are sure to keep up your interests in accounting, and have access to many levels of management.

These roles will provide business and project analytical support for critical accounting initiatives, enabling the TJX retail business operating model. You will be assigned projects that contribute to business strategy, as well as assist with daily activities within the Accounting function. You will collaborate with experienced financial professionals, to ensure we are managing and executing assigned projects and deliverables in a timely, effective, and efficient manner.

Responsibilities and deliverables may include but are not limited to:

• Ensure all transactions are accounted for in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Prepare journal entries and accruals to ensure accuracy of the General Ledger
• Complete P&L variance analysis and commentary for management review
• Issue expense reporting and analysis; meet monthly with non-Finance departments to review results
• Prepare accurate and timely account reconciliations (including variance resolution)
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency
• Perform special projects as necessary

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for current students who are highly motivated self-starters, with the ability to prioritize effectively, be proactive and flexible, and demonstrate a strong bias for action in a fast-paced professional environment. Additional skills include:

• Proficient in Excel (i.e. pivot tables, charts, v-look up, etc.)
• Oracle/ ERP experience a plus
• Students who are sincerely interested in a career in Corporate Accounting
• Prior internship in an accounting-related field a plus
• Students who have high level of curiosity
• Those with proven leadership abilities with strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Those who pay strong attention to details
• Excellent communicators, who are able to concisely and effectively deliver results
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment and prioritize effectively
• Students who can build strong relationships with cross-functional departments
• Self-starters who can manage multiple projects simultaneously

Key Qualifications:

• A well-founded academic background – GPA of 3.0 or above
• Eligible to start in the Summer of 2019
• Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire
