    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Senior Manager, Packaging will manage the overall packaging development process of new and existing, consumer-facing GNC branded products and serve as an accountable-partner of maintaining design integrity. This cross-functional position will be responsible for managing the end-to-end packaging review process, from initial project planning through final printed approval.

    This candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication and previous experience in a packaging development role. In addition, the ideal candidate will be expected to have a keen eye for design intricacies and ability to assist in managing color and design standards across all printed packaging types and substrates.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • **Process & Execution **

    • Manage the end-to-end project management process as it relates to packaging production operations, this includes collaborating with multiple teams with varying ownership to manage changes and alignments that result in the timely completion of best-in-class final products.

    • Review content for accuracy of art rounds for labels/cartons/inserts. Ensure that art all packaging components are completed precisely and efficiently, strong proofreading and spelling skills are required.

    • Capture changes and comments in project management system, thoroughly review and confirm requested revisions have been made.

    • Accountable for maintaining color and design standards through label development.

    • Maintain and organize files relevant to individual projects.

    • Actively assist in identifying new and improved processes that will result in effective harmonization for new or existing products and enable efficiencies.

    • Lead and project manage cross-functional content discussions while partnering with key contributing internal and external stakeholders regarding their key functional areas, gather and report corrections, develop agreeable solutions and implement requirements.

    • Lead and meet goals of packaging projects with varying degrees of complexity, including new product launches, redesign and lifecycle maintenance.

    • Responsible for playing an active, collaborative role in maintaining brand integrity through all packaging assets for global, international and wholesale business units.

    • Routing / Approval Process :

    • Lead routing and approval process assuring proper sequencing for review, resolving conflict on feedback, clarifying ambiguous or incomplete information, identifying risks and mitigation actions, ensuring all appropriate approvals are received in timely manner.

    • Timing:

    • Ensure timely and accurate development of label files (marketing copy, claims, directions for use, supplement/nutrition panels, creative design aspects, label templates and production files).

    • Responsible for proactively communicating timing for unique design variants including but not limited to pill image creation and flavor cue creation needs.

    • Manage package development and project management activities to assure completion in most efficient and timely manner all while prioritizing packaging requests, concurrent projects and ensuring they are in line with business priorities and strategic objectives.

    • Quality - Print and Finished Good:

    • Working seamlessly with production and creative teams to establish standards that are achievable across various packaging structures and ensure finished product is held to GNC defined standards of appearance at the printer and manufacturer levels.

    • Work closely with Production Manager to address and resolve issues production/design discrepancies on circulating art files.

      • Ability to attend/support execution of print quality via on-site press checks.
    • Participate in regular review and audits of GNC packaged products to ensure design standards are being upheld.

    • Actively assist in identifying new and improved processes that will result in effective harmonization for new or existing products and enable efficiencies

    • Additional duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervise and manage the packaging project management team.
    • Responsible for supervising multiple projects.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism/English-centered, Graphics/Design Communication or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.
    • 8+ years progressive Project Management experience required.
    • Understand general compliance requirements of Title 21 CFR, NLEA or DSHEA for labeling preferred.
    • Direct print production experience preferred.
    • Experience launching new products, redesigns, line extensions and maintenance items in a CPG, private label or food company, technology, pharma industries, and design agencies, preferred.
    • Experience in Workfront or equivalent Project Management/Trafficking Tool preferred.
    • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Teams, Outlook & Internet applications.
    • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, project management & planning skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
    • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
    • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
    • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
    • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.

    Additional Information

    • Hybrid work environment, 2-3 days in-person attendance is required (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to ability to work remotely.
    • Up to 15% domestic travel will be required (Pittsburgh, PA).
