active member of the Mission Advancement Department and the primary
researcher responsible for completing a Community Needs Assessment in
Wyandotte and Johnson Counties, Kansas. He or she will facilitate
community focus groups, conduct surveys, and interview community members
in order to assist the Grant Writer in completing the Community Needs
Assessment. This intern will gain experience in research methods,
organizing community outreach, and gathering detailed information and
personal accounts related to specific community trends. Objective This
intern will be responsible for completing the community engagement
aspect of a Community Needs Assessment in Johnson and Wyandotte
Counties, Kansas. This includes organizing and facilitating
industry-specific focus groups, surveys, and interviews of community
members in relation to employment, barriers to employment, census data,
and community trends. In coordination with the Grant Writer, this
internship will complete a Community Needs Assessment for Wyandotte and
Johnson Counties, Kansas. This internship spans the fall semester
September to December 2018. Essential Functions Reasonable

perform the essential functions. * Follow the Community Needs Assessment
policy & procedures in order to conduct the community engagement phase
of the project. * Independently conduct community focus groups, surveys,
and interviews to support the data analysis completed by the Grant
Writer. * Coordinate with the Grant Writer to complete a Community Needs
Assessment report. Qualifications The Community Research Intern should
be in their final year of an undergraduate degree or in the process of
earning a graduate degree with the following: * A degree in Sociology,
Anthropology, Urban Development or Planning, Political Science,
nonprofit management, business, or related * Previous research
experience and knowledge of research methodology * Excellent technical
writing skills * Excellent verbal communication skills * Compassion,
empathy, and passion for social services * Ability to maintain
confidential information in a research setting * Proficiency in
Microsoft Office * Professional demeanor * Attention to detail * Ability
to work independently and efficiently with little supervision *
Proactive attitude and adaptability * Must have a valid drivers license
