Safety & Health Specialist II - Temple Job Summary: Assiststhe Risk Management Department in achieving corporate objectives related toloss prevention of work injuries by providing on-site medical and safetyservices. This role will be located at H-E-B's Medic Station in Temple, TX. Essential Functions/ Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assignedas necessary: - Assists clients & customers in reachingtheir safety goals - Renders First Aid Care to Partners foroccupational injuries/illness - Provides first aid in emergent situations tothird party individuals - Communicates and documents first aid carerendered for occupational injuries in STARS claims system - Works with Risk Solutions Management/Representative - Communicates with all levels of leadership torender first aid care and safety, health and environmental programs - Responsible for increasing the knowledge andunderstanding of OSHA - Conducts Safety audit as required - Assists in tracking Safety, Health andEnvironmental indicators such as: Safety inspection results and trends,Division Safety Training, Safety Audits, Job Hazard Analysis, Injury reportaccuracy, incident analysis and timeliness, Hazard Recognition and Prevention,and Environmental Checklists - Assists in maintaining Safety, Health andEnvironmental Programs - Informs others on individual and overallcompliance status - Helps to initiate safety and environmentalimprovement in both proactive and reactive modes - Assists with training all Partners to ensurethat the company complies with safety & environmental practices as required - Assists in identifying Safety, Health andEnvironmental program needs; develops recommendations to eliminate and reducehazards - Conducts and documents property damageinvestigations - Trains OSHA Safety topics, New HireOrientation and New Hire Safety initiatives - Communicates\escalates immediate safetyconcerns as required with appropriate sense of urgency - Proactive in conducting the First ResponderProgram - Works closely with Physical Therapy Team - Conducts EMT\Occupational Injury duties toinclude must follow Medical Director Standard Operating Procedures - Participates in VPP initiatives in industrialareas - Supports department, fills in as Safetycoordinator as needed - Facilitates in Safety, Health andEnvironmental Fairs for divisions assigned Education andExperience preferred: - High School diploma or equivalent - 2-3 yrs experience - Safety Tech Certifications - OSHA 30 Hour General Industry & ConstructionCertified - HAZMAT 40 Hour up to incident commander - Knowledge of Work Injury Benefit Plan orOccupational injury experience - EMT certification license from Texas Registry - Safety project work experience preferred - Training and classroom delivery experience KeyCompetencies preferred: - Trainer Skills - Demonstrate effective written / verbalcommunication and presentation skills - Demonstrate organization and time managementskills with ability to multi- task - Demonstrate initiative and willingness to takerisks - Strong personal leadership skills Physical and OtherRequirements: - Function in a fast-paced, retail, officeenvironment - Travel by car or airplane with overnight stays - Sit for an extended period of time - Hand / Finger dexterity - Lift 20 lbs or more on an occasional basis - Work extended hours - Other, specific to the job LEG3232 **Primary Location: **US-TX-San Antonio **Work Locations: ** **Job: **Risk Solutions **Organization: **H-E-B **Schedule: **Full-time **Job Type: **Standard **Job Posting: **Dec 6, 2018, 5:55:08 PM **Shift: **Variable Hours **Travel: **Yes, 5 % of the Time
