Job Skills / Requirements The Account Receivable Specialists primary role includes, but not limited to, billing and consistently following up on unpaid claims, utilizing monthly aging reports and filing appeals when appropriate to obtain maximum reimbursement. Duties & Responsibilities Work denied claims daily through both correspondence and/or denial notification. Maintain telephone or electronic contact with payers daily for electronic submissions to ensure prompt collections and avoid timely denials. Ensure all levels of insurance follow up are completed for primary, secondary, and tertiary, and that timely statements are released to patients for balances after the insurance has completed payment. Complete escalated appeals and overturn denials daily. Interact with the Payor Provider Representatives to assist with contracting issues with important criteria and data analysis to support proposed changes daily. Prepare and review Bad Debt Protocols with Director monthly. Communicate with Program Managers regarding account status and challenges daily. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers through prompt response and courteous communication within 48 hours of the request. Meet all deadlines as directed by management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of experience in claims billing, claims reconciliation, and denial management in a medical office or hospital is preferred. Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding is required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Certification as a Certified Revenue Cycle (CRCR) is preferred. Working conditions Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Works beyond normal working hours, when necessary. Physical requirements May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work-day. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
