BUSINESS ANALYTICS INTERN

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Business Analytics Intern in the IEL Operations Department you will be responsible for helping provide business analytics insight which includes conducting and delivering analyses, working directly with Subject Matter Experts to develop processes that support business strategies, and preparing complex data sets from both internal and external data sources for analysis.  You will be a part of the team that works closely with both business and IT groups to integrate data into critical business decisions.  During this internship, you will initiate, manage, and deliver a project to further the implementation of data driven decision-making into the business.

POSITION DESCRIPTION (ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

• Create reports and interpret data from various sources to demonstrate opportunities of further inquiry
• Works as a member of a team that provides service to both internal and external users
• Communicate findings with business users
• Support development of end to end data science solutions
• Perform data visualization techniques using Google Analytics
• Conduct data mining and analysis to address key business risk
• Help identify trends and trouble areas that IEL can use to mitigate risk and future loss
• Expand knowledgebase and continuously learn throughout the industry from experts, current events, and case precedent
• Handle other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Basic (Required)

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science or related quantitative field
• Experience with data visualization and data discovery
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
• Ability to self-motivate, stay organized, and respond well to direction
• Working knowledge of Google Analytics

Preferred

• Experience with programing languages such as R or Python
• Investigative and analytical mindset
• Knowledge in applied statistics and mathematics
• Enjoy discovering and solving problems
• Proactively seeks clarification of requirements and direction
