    JOB DESCRIPTION

The A&F Corporate Global Data and Integrations DevOps team is searching for an ambitious and gritty Machine Learning Engineer.  This person will focus on implementing best-in-class Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) tools and processes for data scientists to leverage in order to enhance reproducibility and resilience of insight products.  We are committed to scaling predictive analytics across the organization and MLOps is critical to enabling development cycles for new insight products that don’t get mired by past, high-maintenance projects.  MLOps practices will also allow us to systematize best-in-class open source algorithms for delivering value to both internal and external customers.  The ML Engineer will demonstrate a deep comprehensive working knowledge of every component of MLOps as well as fundamental Data Engineering practices that will enable them to train other team members to become full-stack, end-to-end data scientists - owning a project from data exploration to model deployment.

    WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    Machine Learning Pipeline Management

    • Be able to design and deploy a machine learning pipeline from exploratory query to feature engineering to model training/testing to batch or real-time deployment.

    • Test new technologies that may limit technical debt or help data scientists to deploy models more efficiently.

    • Develop best practices and how-to guides for MLOps practices such as:

      • Git

      • CI/CD

      • Input data unit and statistical testing

      • Experiment tracking

      • Model Registry

      • Scheduling of ML pipelines

      • Production drift monitoring and alerting

      • Optimization of cloud compute resources

    • Serve as the MLOps SME (Subject Matter Expert) and coach for the entire GDI DevOps and Data & Analytics team

    • Train all data scientists in MLOps best practices.

    Data Engineering

    • Establish and parameterize connections to new data sources (social, clickstream, unstructured, etc.)

    • Adopt best practices for writing processed data (ML features) to appropriate data lakes, warehouses, or feature stores.

    • Ensure data accuracy and single source of truth; work with Data Engineers to identify or build new solutions.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

    • B.S. degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Operation Research, Statistics, Data Science or related engineering fields

    • You don’t have to be an expert in all or any of the areas below, but we need someone with a passion for learning and growing as a software developer and ML engineer.

    • Strong engineering and coding skills, with ability to write high quality production code.

    • Expert in Python, SQL, PySpark and/or CLI.

    • Experience with Azure cloud ecosystem

    • 4+ years of production model deployment experience

    • Experience optimizing model hyperparameter tuning for speed and cost

    • Experience building supervised and unsupervised models

    • Experience developing with Agile practices.

    • Excellent documentation habits

    • Highly motivated/self-starter with a sense of ownership, willingness to learn, and desire to succeed.

    • You don’t have to be an expert in all or any of the above areas but we need someone with a passion for learning and growing as a software developer and ML engineer
