    Job Description

    This is an ideal opportunity for college juniors and seniors or anyone looking to gain exposure in an innovative, fast-paced technology company. This is a full-time, virtual, paid internship from June 7 to August 6. Employees from diverse or underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

    Merkle partners with industry-leading cloud technologies – like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform – to help clients build end-to-end consumer journeys they can use to market at scale while keeping a keen focus on the customer experience. The Cloud & Big Data Engineering Intern works with these Cloud platforms to design, develop, and implement next generation analytical solutions that provide clients with comprehensive access to their data and a more complete view of their customers and prospects. Under the supervision of a Cloud Architect, the Intern will work on client-facing projects and gain real-life experience in Cloud native and Commercial/Open Source Big Data technologies.

    • Contribute in building data pipelines, loading datasets, generating insights leveraging Cloud based Big Data technologies
    • Participate in Unit Testing, Integration Testing of applications
    • Be hands-on in developing prototypes and conducting Proof of Concepts
    • Work under the supervision of Cloud Architect
    • Evaluate and analyze new commercial/open-source services/technologies offered by public Cloud providers, and Big Data technology vendors
    • Develop repeatable/reusable componentry for typical Cloud based Marketing solutions implementations
    • Participate in creating project documentation such as handbooks
    • Opportunity to get AWS or Google Cloud certified
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management Information Systems / Computer Science OR related experience
    • Solid programming skills (Java/Python/any other)
    • Knowledge of RDBMS experience using SQL
    • Conceptual and working knowledge of Big Data technologies and relational databases preferred
    • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to both large and small audiences
    • Passionate about learning new technologies and applying them in your daily job
    • Understanding of data warehouse/data engineering concepts
    • Problem-solving mentality
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication
    • Ability to connect technology with measurable business value

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position.
