SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for administrative support of the day-to-day functions within the HR department. This person will work with the HR Generalist and the VP of Business Operations to assist in administering a variety of HR processes, along with other office support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Position may include additional functions not listed.)*
Assist with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding processes. Ensure pre-employment requirements are complete, such as I-9’s, background checks, drug testing, etc.
Assists in administering benefits enrollment, employee purchase accounts, paycheck disbursement, etc.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records including paper/electronic employee files and applicant records.
Assist in administering employment-related policies, practices, and procedures in compliance with company policies as well as applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Assist in administering employee leaves of absence, Workers’ Compensation, and return-to-work programs.
Maintain high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and non-routine information.
Assist in overflow needs from other office departments, including the accounting department.
Perform other assignments and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Required knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, etc.)
Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
Basic understanding of federal and state HR/payroll related laws and regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as ability to work in a team environment.
Strong PC skills using MS Word, Excel, HRIS/payroll systems, and other programs.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee compensation, equity, and general employee or business information.
Excellent planning, organization, and problem solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy as well as ability to multi-task and is self-motivated.
PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Interacts with others within an administrative internal environment located at a desk/work station and works in both manual and electronic/computer activities during the workday.
Must be able to lift 10 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for entire work shift.
Ability to speak clearly, listen attentively, and understand others as well as ability to give and receive instructions via telephone, computer messages, face-to-face, and in writing.
